-{a campsite at Samuell Farm}-
|
| For the past 20 years, residents of Dallas and neighboring communities enjoyed the recreational and
educational opportunities afforded by Samuell Farm. Originally owned by W.W. Samuell, a prominent
Dallas physician, the 340-acre farm was willed by Dr. Samuell to the City of Dallas in 1937 to be used
as an educational resource for young people. What foresight! For two decades, the City of Dallas used
Samuell Farm as an educational resource for hundreds of thousands of children and adults. Today over
275,000 kindergarten through twelfth grade students attend schools near the farm. An average of 75,000
guests visited the farm each of the last four years it was fully operational and over 33,000 children
from 54 cities in Texas visited the farm in 2000. Sadly, however, budget cuts recently compelled the
City of Dallas to close the rural farm operating mere minutes from downtown Dallas.

|
| Friends Of The Farm (“FOTF”), a Texas non-profit corporation, was formed in 2001 to obtain rights to
reopen and manage the farm with improved recreational facilities, better educational programs, and new
community outreach services for Dallas residents. FOTF has now reached an agreement with the Park and
Recreation Department that will enable our personnel to move on-site before year-end. Planned outdoor
recreational activities include, among others, hiking, picnicking, pond fishing, nature walks, bird
watching and rural tourism.

| The 340-acre property includes meadows, wooded areas, ponds, and creeks. Many varieties of native plants
and non-native grass are found on this remnant of disappearing Blackland Prairie.
